Shabbat Study Archive – Teachings of Yeshua (The Beautitudes and Parables)

The sermons of Yeshua Messiah stand unique in its power to shake those who are prepared to expose themselves to its concentrated TRUTH. As believers in Yeshua we are to be uncompromising in our acceptance of Scripture as the inspired authoritative Word of Yah. We have been warned in 2Timothy 4:3-4 of the coming of evil times where many who once had zeal for Adonai’s Word will come to despise it. Many believers (Christians) who have acknowledged Yeshua (Jesus) as their Lord and Savior have relied on their first step of obedience to be the end of their deliverance, when it was just the beginning. That first step was an invitation for Yeshua to begin a work of sanctification in their personalities and strip them of the demonic activity that has been hemmed up into their personhood without their knowledge. Therefore, so that we will not crumble and fall to the schemes of the Adversary and those who work undercover, we will surrender to Adonai’s washing.

Come join us as each follower of Yeshua participates in delivering Yah’s Word and allow ourselves to come face to face with His TRUTH. Hebrews 4:12, 13

Read the following parables and answer the questions proceeding the Scriptures.

  • Matthew 25:1-13
  • The Ten Virgins

In this parable of the “Ten Virgins” or “Bridemaids, the five sensible bridemaids took with them lamps and flasks of olive oil with their lamps to meet the bridegroom, though the remaining bridemaids took only lamps. The “olive oil” symbolizes knowledge of Torah (The complete Word of Yah) which provides spiritual knowledge and understanding.

“Later, the other bridemaids came, saying, Sir, sir! Let us in! But he answered, Indeed! I tell you, I don’t know you! So stay alert, because you know neither the day nor the hour.” The word “hour” in this verse can also be translated as “the time” or “season”.

The G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is telling us that without studying His Word to gain the understanding and knowledge of His heart along with submission to the Ruach, we cannot know Him nor the hour of His coming!

(Q) Are you counting on your childhood acceptance of Yeshua, your own belief system, or even grace to prepare you for the coming of the L-rd? Or do you deliberately run to study and seek Yeshua for wisdom and understanding in order to have a relationship with the Father that prepares you for the great day of His return?

Choose one parable from the list of 23 that we have previously studied and give an explanation of how it has impacted your life.

  • Matthew 24:32-35
  • Lesson of the Fig Tree

Clearly, the “End Times” should be taught as a necessary component for our awarness of the Messiah’s return. Just as clearly, we need to focus on the task of raising up mature believers, evangelizing, feeding the poor, and bringing deliverance to a fallen world. Each generation is to believe that the “Day of the Lord” is coming soon (Luke 12.40, James 5.8).

(Q) Are you keeping your hand to the plow as well as being a Watcher for the signs of Yeshua’s return?

(Q) What does it mean to be a “Watcher”?

  • Luke 10:30-37
  • The Good Samaritan

The man in the parable that fell in the hands of robbers was slighted by those who should have been friends. Not only were they men of his own nation and belief system, but men of public character who professed holiness and whose offices obligated them to exhibit tenderness and compassion (Heb 5.1-4). They ought to have taught others, yet they did not do it themselves.

(Q) Do you claim to be a believer of Yeshua, who is love and compassion, yet you do not display tenderness when it comes to your brothern, especially those in your own household?

  • Matthew 13:31-33
  • Leaven

Leaven is the principle of corruption working subtly. It is invariably used in an evil sense (Mt. 16.11, Mk 8.15). Yet, here in Mt. 13 the interpretation is the rapid spread and all penetrating influence of the Kingdom through the Body of Christ for good, showing that man can be transformed by being in fellowship with Yah.

(Q) What areas of your life have been transformed by the growth and influence of fellowship with the Kingdom of Yah?

  • Luke 18:9-14
  • The Pharisee and Tax Collector

The Pharisee did not really pray at all. He asked Yah for nothing and his thanksgiving was merely a form. He contemplates and marvels of himself, verses the Tax Collector who is clearly distraught and agitated by his own sense of unworthiness and pleads humbly for Yah’s mercy.

(Q) Are you trying to live a good moral life without being fully committed to Yeshua Messiah, thus believing you have no need for mercy?

  • Luke 14.7-11
  • The Lowest Seat

“The Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses”, i.e. consider themselves as Moses’ successors in explaining and defending the Torah (Mt. 23.2) Ezekiel 28.2 states “I am a god, I sit in the seat of G-d…” ascribed to the prince of Tyre is arrogance and pride. The chief seat is the first or principal seat, meaning preeminent council.

(Q) Do you secretly long for a seat of power in order to display personal superiority?

  • Matthew 5.14-16
  • A Lamp Under a Basket

Since Yah, The Almighty is “light” (1Jn 1.5, Jam 1.17, Ps 104.2, 1Tim 6.16) and The Word of Yah is a lamp (Ps 119.105) Yeshua, the One who brings true knowledge of Yah, is the “light’ of men (Jn 1.4, 9) and “light” is sown like a seed for the righteous (Ps 97.11, 27.1). Therefore, light is not our good deed but the means by which people see that they are good.

(Q) Do you try to perform good deeds without Yeshua being the orchestrator of your works?

  • Luke 18:1-8
  • The Persistent Widow

(Q) How would your life differ, if you were relentless in all areas of your life (natural and spiritually)?

(Q) What is stopping you in striving for this towering character in Yeshua?

  • Luke 19:11-27
  • Ten Maneh (Pound)

(Q) Knowing that Adonai gave each of us resources to increase the Kingdom of Yah, have you embraced the stewardship and multiplied what you have been given or have you hid in fear doing nothing, not believing what He has done nor “Yah forbid” not wanting Him to be King?

  • Luke 13:6-9
  • The Barren Fig Tree

The owner of the vineyard instructed the gardener to cut the non-producing fig tree down because it’s occupying valuable space. The owner yields to the gardener’s request for a second chance; he would “dig around it and place manure”.

(Q) Where have you purposed to dig into Yah’s word, add His soil of truth around your circumstances so you may produce fruit?

(Q) In what way have you taken benefit of Yeshua’s second chance?

  • Luke 12:14-21
  • The Rich Fool

Yeshua’s mission was not to settle the differences which brother/joint heirs of covenant ought easily to have composed themselves.

(Q) In what area of your life do you keep calling on Yeshua to handle a situation only to hear his response; “I have given you authority”?

  • Matthew 18:23-25
  • Unforgiving Servant

Read the following parables and answer the questions proceeding the scripture.

  • Matthew 21:22-45 The Wicked Tenants

(Q) As servants of Adonai, we are to prepare His ministry and His people for His harvesting, requiring us to direct His people toward Him alone; not for building our own Kingdom. Are you directing Adonai’s people to the Master or building your own kingdom, and even killing those that would warn you?

  • Matthew 20:1-6 Workers In the Vineyard

(Q) Yah owes no man anything (Lu 17.7-10) and so every reward is essentially an act of grace. If we truly see the “last is first” is only in the eyes of those who expected more-their disappointment makes it seem as preferential treatment. Do you believe you deserve preferential treatment because of your service to the Lord?

Passover Celebration

We have entered the season of Passover (Unleeavened Bread, Firstfruits and Seder), Adonai’s Feast, in remembering the children of Israel and how the Lord allowed the destroyer to pass over their houses. Kowing this was a foreshadow of our deliverance, we come together not forsaking the assembling of ourselves to give honor to the blood of Messiah, who through the eternal Holy Spirit presented himself blameless as an offering to G-d. Therefore, since the blood of Yeshua has been placed upon the doorpost of our hearts we rejoice in knowing that the current plague shall pass over us also.

We pray that you will find hope and deliverance in Yeshua Messiah, for he is the only one who can rescue and reedeem you.

Blessed are you, O Lord, our G-d, King of the universe!
