Apologetic Study – Atheism

The spirit of Atheism is working in the world to draw away those who do not have a love for the Truth.  As the Body of Yeshua, we must cultivate a love for the Truth by being willing to endure sound doctrine.  This will require us to confront every false teaching and practice of atheism in our lives.  By doing so our faith will be strengthened and we will be equipped for every good work as we await the coming of Yeshua our Messiah.

Three Pillars of Atheism

1. What footprints of atheism has been seen in the Body of Christ?

The atheist foot prints are seen in the promotion of humanistic philosophy in the church by the reinterpretation of scripture to align with science, ethics and philosophy.  Many have tried to develop a theory about G-d based on the social issues of today.  We also see the foot print of atheistic feminism in the Body of Yeshua by women reinterpreting scripture from their perspective.  This reinterpretation of scripture has caused women to add and subtract from the Word of G-d.  The foot print of Unitarian Universalism is evident in the reinterpreting the unity of the G-d Head (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). This perversion of the oneness of G-d is defined by the transformation of the G-d of creation, into Yeshua the son of redemption, transformed into the Holy Spirit who is, supposedly, the Church today.  Finally we see the foot print of secularism in the Body of Yeshua by the support of the separation of church and state to ensure a thriving pluralist democracy.  The separation of church and state was granted to prevent the government from controlling the church. However, this secularist group wants to keep G-d out of government.

2. How has atheism impacted believers?

Many Believers are so caught up in their own opinion, the social “norms” and so called “deep thought” that philosophy has become the authority in their lives.  Looking for ways to exalt themselves they have been distracted by social and political issues.   They are under such pressure to change the world that they are burdened down with so many “causes” that they have lost their first love. (Revelation 2:4)  Consequently, they are distracted, confused, and unfulfilled. Many have formed alliances with non-Christian groups while unknowingly giving themselves over to atheistic agendas. (Proverbs 24:21)

Many women in the Body of Yeshua have been misled by trying to find their value in being a strong woman while being weakened in their intimacy and dependency on the Lord (Revelation 2:20).  They have been swayed to believe that even the bible is chauvinistic and that the role of the woman is unfairly portrayed.  They have rebelled by creating ministries that encourage a false sense of “Gender liberation” while catering to a homosexual agenda.  Many women are so deceived that they are always learning but never able to come to full knowledge of the truth.

(2 Timnothy 3:6-7) Many are depressed lonely and in despair.

The belief that the Body of Yeshua (the Church) is actually the Holy Spirit has led to the division of the Kingdom of G-d into man-made “cities”.  This “city” mentality breeds leaders that are arrogant, self-centered, controlling, deceptive, and overly-ambitious. Their focus is on maintaining their “city” while neglecting the welfare of the people. (1 Peter 5:1-3) They exert their power as if they were a “god” and they require total allegiance to the “city”.  They lay a heavy tax on their congregants in the form of building funds, mega-conferences, airplanes, cars, and houses all in the name of ministry. They manipulate their congregants into serving the “ministry” by overloading them with fruitless duties that keep the “city” thriving. Meanwhile the congregants are left abused, defeated, discouraged and bound by sin. (Revelation 3:1-2)

Many in the Body of Yeshua are so compromised in their faith that they would rather coexist in a pluralistic democracy than have to deal with the persecution of proclaiming the Gospel (Revelation 3:15-16).  They do not want to be held accountable to the Great Commission so they are led to misinterpret scripture to excuse them from “spurring each other on love and good works.” (Hebrews 10:24)  They are ignorant of scripture, vulnerable to the enemy, and lack the richness of G-d all because they don’t realize that Adonai is the Sovereign G-d of all.  It is Adonai who sets the rise and fall of nations and kingdoms. (Acts 17:26)

3. What do you recognized as the stronghold or strongman of this cult or religion?

The strongman of atheism is Pride and its subjects are: ignorance of scripture, lack of self-control, disrespect of authority, bitterness and wickedness.  These strongholds are the gateway to atheism:

Ignorance of scripture will cause us to lack discernment allowing us to be carried away by every wind of doctrine, leaving us vulnerable to destructive and demonic influences. (1 Timothy 4:1-2)

Lack of self-control is being under the control of sinful actions and speech deeming us unable to carry out our good intentions to follow the Lord. (Galatians 5:16-17)

Disrespect of authority will cause us to reject the counsel of the Lord, leaving us helpless and destined to apostatize. (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12)

Bitterness is having utter contempt and disdain in our hearts towards others causing us to embrace what is abominable to Adonai through derisive behavior and speech. (Hebrews 12:15)

Wickedness is evident when we devise evil schemes to set snares for others or draw others into sin.  At this point we have moved into a seared conscious, only concerned with gratifying ourselves by seeing the destruction of others. (Luke 17:1-2)

In recognizing the spiritual warfare, what characteristics of Yeshua should we pray to be released in the Body of Christ and in us?

We should pray for the release of the Kingdom of G-d and its principles and mandates, the Spirit of Truth, the pursuit of intimacy with G-d, obedience, fear of G-d, humility, self-control, forgiveness,  repentance, freedom, the mind of Yeshua, boldness, discernment, deliverance, Divine visitation, salvation, healing, and shalom.
