Month of ELUL – Sixth Month

Elul means “to reap” and in Aramaic it means “to search.” It is the sixth (6th) month of the religious calendar and the twelfth (12th) month of the civil calendar. The Month of Elul is associated with the tribe of Gad (Deuteronomy 33.20-21). Moshe describes Gad as a lion that rest in confidence against the enemy. The name Gad means an army of Yahweh, a troop cometh or to overcome an attack. Gad’s colors are yellow, orange, golden brown representing “fiery battles won”.
The sense associated with the month of Elul is mercy.
This month is a time of preparation, calling for repentance before the Fall Feast. As the shofar is blown each day-it calls for us to have access to Yah’s love and mercy during this time that the “King is in the field”, therefore, repent.
Yahweh wants to meet with us in our everyday affairs, especially when we are hard press, He is with us.

Month of AV – Fifth Month

Av means “Father” or Menachem Av, “The Comforter Father.”
The month of Av is associated with the tribe of Simeon and connected to the sense of hearing. Simeon’s name means hearing or listening.
This month brings a balance of divine comfort and tragedy and many contradictions and choices, so embrace your relationship with Adonai; every choice that is made will either diminish you or raise you up in Adonai. It is imperative that we to cast off what causes us to lose focus, protect our ear gate, listen, hear, be transformed and not act impulsively. Av is a month where strict justice will come when judgment is rendered. Be encouraged to know that with opposition comes opportunity.
